On this month's transportation-focused episode of WGSO 990's All Things Local with UNO Transportation Institute, Lt. Colonel Jerry Sneed, the Deputy Mayor of Public Safety and the Director for the Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness, joins to talk about the 2013 hurricane season. UNOTI director Dr. John Renne co-hosts from across the pond in Oxford and gives an update on European transportation systems. Tara received her Master’s degree in Urban and Regional Planning from the University of New Orleans in 2011, with a dual specialization in transportation planning and land use. She has been involved with the UNO Transportation Institute since 2009, and is currently responsible for leading all bicycle and pedestrian-related programs and research activities. This includes managing the Pedestrian Bicycle Resource Initiative, a joint project with the New Orleans Regional Planning Commission, and leading new research on the development of minimum state requirements for local growth management policies. Tara's research interests include transportation resilience, active transportation policy and infrastructure design, transit-related economic development, and individualized marketing techniques for transportation demand management.
